I’m Jenni, a bibliophagist in my early 40s. I’ve been an avid reader since I was a little girl. I started tracking and rating my books in 2012 on Goodreads, and in 2016 I discovered Litsy, where I began reviewing all of my reads regularly. I read and listen to 150-250 books per year, so sometimes it feels like I’m indeed always reading. About half of the books I finish are audiobooks – I have been completely hooked on audio for the last few years. I recently joined NetGalley, and plan to actively read and review all of the books I receive there.
I consider myself an equal-opportunity reader, and I read from many genres regularly. My favorites are historical fiction, literary fiction, fantasy, classics, and romance, but I also read a lot of sci-fi and YA. While I do read non-fiction occasionally, it’s not my favorite – I like to escape into fiction.
Since I haven’t figured out yet how to make reading my career, I have a day job working in state government. I also have 5 busy kids, ages 8 to 19, and when I’m not reading, working, or mom-ing, I love baseball, hockey, hiking, cooking and baking, and music.
About my reviews:
I use a five-star rating system for my reviews here and on Goodreads. On Litsy, one- and two-star ratings are pans, three-star ratings are so-sos, and four- and five-star ratings are picks.
★☆☆☆☆ I hated everything about it, and can’t believe I finished it.
★★☆☆☆ I didn’t like it. The negative outweighs the positive.
★★★☆☆ I liked it. The book has flaws, but I enjoyed reading it.
★★★★☆ I really liked it. Very good book, minor flaws easily overlooked.
★★★★★ Absolutely loved everything about it. Perfection in book form.
I very rarely fail to finish a book. Even if I don’t like it, I will usually finish and rate the book. My reviews will indicate if I read or listened to the book, and I will frequently comment on the quality of audiobooks and the narration itself.
